Oliver Tank debuts new single Swerve
With a penchant for heartfelt soundscapes, Sydney-based producer and musician Oliver Tank makes his triumphant return with his new single, ‘Swerve’ - his first new solo material in 3 years.
Having mastered the art of emotional electronic music, ‘Swerve’ follows the anniversary celebration of his critically acclaimed debut EP Dreams, which is marked by an intimate sold-out hometown show this weekend and free EP ‘Off Days’ featuring B-sides available for download now.
Weaving melodic vocals with transcendent production, ‘Swerve’ depicts letting go of doubt and finding confidence in who are you and what you do. A lesson which Oliver applied himself whilst creating new material, stating “‘Swerve’ is a very personal track for me. Sometimes it's tough to let people know who you really are and how you really feel, but I've felt more comfortable expressing myself through my music lately. I doubted myself a lot these last few years. I was uncertain and afraid and I let it take control of my life. Recently I told myself to just let it all go. Be yourself. Believe in who you are and what you do, be confident. Swerve is about that doubt I felt, putting this song out into the world is my way of letting go of it.”
Oliver bursting onto the scene in 2011 with his textual glitch pop debut Dreams, which he followed up with stunning sophomore EP, Slow Motion Music in late 2013 which included collaborations with Ta-Ku, Hayden Calnin, as well as long-time friend and collaborator Fawn Myers.
With rave reviews worldwide for both EP’s, Oliver’s rise was kicked off by winning FBi's Northern Lights competition, inclusion in Triple J's “2012 Next Crop” and nomination for FBi SMAC Award in the “Next Big Thing” category. Oliver has supported music luminaries Active Child, Youth Lagoon, Bonobo, Megan Washington, Julia Stone, Lana Del Rey, James Blake and Lorde as well as headline national tours and sets at The Great Escape, Liverpool Sound City and Falls Festival.
‘Swerve’ is the first offering since lending his soulful vocals to WZRDKIDS ‘Cold Clocks’ earlier this year and marks Oliver as a timeless talent whose creations continue to be both parts relevant and revolutionary.
